Lise Davidsen
Norwegian soprano LISE DAVIDSEN began her world conquest by winning Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition and the Queen Sonia Competition in 2015. She was widely acclaimed for her débuts at the Bayreuth, Aix-en-Provence and Glyndebourne festivals, at the Royal Opera House and Wigmore Hall in London and at the Bavarian and Vienna State Operas. In 2019, Gramophone magazine declared in its review of an album of Strauss and Wagner that Davidsen “is one of the greatest vocal talents to have emerged in recent years, if not decades”.
Davidsen studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen and at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen. Her recent débuts include appearing as Lisa in Queen of Spades at the Metropolitan Opera and as Leonore in Fidelio in Montreal and at the Royal Opera House. She was scheduled to return to Bayreuth as Elisabeth in Tannhäuser and as Sieglinde in Die Walküre in summer 2020. In addition to her opera work, she has appeared as a concert soloist with prominent orchestras such as the London Philharmonic, the BBC Philharmonic and the Oslo, Bergen and Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestras.
