Franco Fagioli
FRANCO FAGIOLI is regarded as one of the greatest countertenors of our time due not only to the beauty of his voice but also to his dazzling technical ability and three-octave range. Fagioli regularly appears at leading opera houses such as the Royal Opera House in London, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Paris National Opera.
Born in San Miguel de Tucumán (in northern Argentina), Fagioli was named “Argentinian Singer of the Year” (2017) by the Argentinian Music Critics Association. In 2010 he was named “Singer of the Year” by L’Opera magazine and in 2015 he became the first countertenor ever to be signed by Deutsche Grammophon. Fagioli’s latest engagements have included performances of the Pergolesi Stabat Mater with Cecilia Bartoli and Cappella Gabetta in Switzerland and Austria as well as concert performances of Handel’s Agrippina, also seen at the Turku Concert Hall in the summer 2019.
