The Turku Music Festival regretfully announces the cancellation of the concert by Joyce DiDonato and the Il Pomo d’Oro Baroque orchestra on 7 December and the Christmas recitals of soprano Karita Mattila and pianist Iiro Rantala on 16 and 22 December. This is due to recommendations and orders issued by the authorities concerning the organising of public events in the current coronavirus situation in Southwest Finland.
Tonight’s concert based on the best-selling novel Tritonus by Kjell Westö at 19.00 will go ahead as announced, under the safety recommendations and restrictions previously in effect.
The Turku Music Festival is sad to announce that we are forced to cancel the concert by Joyce DiDonato and the Il Pomo d’Oro Baroque orchestra on 7 December. This is due to recommendations and orders issued by the authorities because of the worsening coronavirus situation in Southwest Finland. We will be contacting all ticket holders.
All tickets purchased for the Joyce DiDonato concert will be refunded at the ticket price, but please note that the service and delivery fees will not be refunded. Lippupiste will contact all customers.
We also announce the cancellation of the Christmas recitals by soprano Karita Mattila and pianist Iiro Rantala on 16 and 22 December, for the same reason. The Christmas concert has now been rescheduled for 18 December 2021 at 19.00. Tickets to the Christmas concert go sale on 7 December 2020 at 12.00.
Tickets purchased for Karita Mattila’s Christmas recitals will not be honoured for the eventual rescheduled recitals as is, but may be exchanged for tickets for the new date if you wish. Lippupiste will contact all customers. If the new date does not suit you, you are eligible for a refund of the ticket price. Please note that the service and delivery fees will not be refunded.
“We are extremely disappointed and sorry to have to cancel these wonderful concerts, but of course we have to abide by the recommendations and orders issued by the authorities to safeguard the health of the public at large. The recital by Karita Mattila and Iiro Rantala has been reschedule for December 2021. We are also talking to Joyce DiDonato and Il Pomo d’Oro to explore whether we could reschedule their concert, but tours like theirs are much more difficult to design and schedule. We will make an announcement when we know more. Amidst all this, we must be pleased that the Tritonus concert tonight can still go ahead under the previously valid recommendations and restrictions. The concert was received really well in Tampere last Sunday,” says Liisa Ketomäki, managing director of the Turku Music Festival.
If you hold a ticket for the Joyce DiDonato concert on 7 December and/or the recital by Karita Mattila and Iiro Rantala on 16 or 22 December, instead of a cash refund you may also exchange it/them for a Turku Music Festival gift voucher. Refund gift vouchers will be accepted as payment at Lippupiste full-service outlets (not at R-kiosks or in the online shop) up until 31 December 2021. For a list of full-service outlets, visit the Lippupiste website: https://www.lippu.fi/help/outlets/
To claim a refund, send a message to Lippupiste at or phone 0600 900 900 (EUR 2 per min + local call charge). Your message must include your mailing address, the serial numbers of your original tickets and any other identifier such as the order number.
Because of the large number of refund claims being processed, payment of refunds may be considerably delayed.
