TAMPERE PIANO COMPETITION WINNER OSSI TANNER VISITING TURKU
Turku Music Festival is producing the Opening Concert of the Music in the Cathedral festival once again. This year the young talented pianist Ossi Tanner will perform on Monday 5th of February in Turku Cathedral.
The annual Turku Music Festival is arranged for the 59th time from 10th to 22nd of August 2018 and the programme is filled with piano music. The Opening Concert of the Music in the Cathedral festival, produced by Turku Music Festival, is no exception. Monday 5th of February 2018 7:00 PM a young piano virtuoso and the Tampere Piano Competition winner Ossi Tanner performs Bach, Debussy, Sibelius and Rachmaninoff in the Turku Cathedral.
20-year-old Ossi Tanner has won both Tampere Piano Competition 2017 and Leevi Madetoja Piano Competition 2015. He has performed as a soloist for instance with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and the Oulu Symphony Orchestra. Tanner was chosen as an artist-in-residence for the Lahti Symphonic Orchestra’s season 2017/2018. This concert is a follow-up for the piano virtuoso series. Last summer we heard Anton Meijas who came in second for the Tampere Piano Competition.

Ossi Tanner is studying under Professor Erik T. Tawaststjerna at Sibelius Academy. Academic year 2017/2018 Tanner is studying at the Paris Conservatory with Professor Michel Dalberto. He has been taught e.g. by Junio Kimanen, Konstantin Bogino, Paavali Jumppanen, Tuula Pulkki and Sirpa Heikkilä. Year 2013 Tanner was chosen for the Youth Piano Academy Finland. He has been supported by Finnish Cultural Foundation, Pro Musica Foundation and Martin Wegelius Foundation. Pro Musica Foundation chose him as the Young Artist of the Year 2015.
