Turku Music Festival is very proud to welcome the world-class tenor Jonas Kaufmann for his long-awaited Finnish debut on the 11th of July 2014 at 7 pm at the Turku Concert Hall, a concert of some the most beloved opera arias. Accompanying him will be the Jyväskylä Sinfonia under the direction of maestro Jochen Rieder. This is definitely an event not to miss.
“We are extremely happy to be able to offer this unique concert experience to our audience”, says Liisa Ketomäki the executive director for Turku Music Festival. “Negotiations for this concert began over a year ago. The recognition of Turku Music Festival is on the rise internationally and previous performances from renowned artist such as tenor Rolando Villazón and soprano Natalie Dessay in 2012 and 2013 have surely added to the appeal of our festival.”
Tickets for the Head Start concert will go on sale Monday 20th of January 2014 at 11.00 am from Lippupalvelu. The programme for Turku Music Festival 2014 will published 6th of February.

Aulis Sallinen’s premieré performance of Preludes and Fugues has been switched to Hämeenlinna on the 2nd of February 2014
Turku Music Festival’s next concert is the opening concert Katedraali Soi! for the church music week in Turku Cathedral on the 3rd of February 2014 at 7pm. The concert is held in collaboration with the Turku Cathedral Parish Union. There will performances by bass-baritone Juha Uusitalo and organ artist Ilpo Laspas. The program will consist of works by Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt, Vesa Erkkilä, Toivo Kuula, Jean Sibelius, Oskari Merikanto, Joonas Kokkonen.
Contrary to previous information the premiere performance of Aulis Sallinen’s Prelude and Fugues for organs will be held in Hämeenlinna at the Sibelius Celebrations Festival on Sunday 2nd of February at 3 pm. Additional information about the concert: http://www.sib.fi/kirkossa-kajahtaa/
